Beautifully written Rick, and I agree with your sentiments. It is sad - for some of us, baseball is or was a great distraction from the responsibilities of every day life. Our daughter Theresa lives in the Bronx. When the Steinbrenner considered moving the Yankees from the Bronx, Theresa noticed the great anxiety of her neighbors. Although I am not a Yankee fan, I too would have been sad to see a positive distraction taken away from those who struggle every day just stay ahead of themselves.
